Chef 360 Platform add-ons

An add-on is a Chef 360 Platform extension or enhancement that adds new features or functionality to the cluster. Add-ons aren’t required to use Chef 360 Platform, but they can enhance the base capabilities and provide additional tools.

Add-ons are typically additional Kubernetes pods that either integrate with Chef 360 Platform (extending its functionality), or directly with Kubernetes (adding new capabilities to the cluster).

It’s possible that resource-intensive add-ons may impact the overall performance of your software. Some add-ons may consume significant system resources that could lead to slower performance.

Add-on support

Chef 360 Platform supports the following add-ons:

You can install your own add-ons, but not in an implicit Chef 360 Platform cluster.

Install add-ons

To install an add-on, open the Chef 360 Platform Admin Console and re-configure your Chef 360 Platform deployment. From there, ensure “show/enable add-ons” is selected. After that you should see additional options displayed. Enable any add-ons you would like to install, but note that some add-ons require additional configuration to function properly.

Uninstall add-ons

To remove an add-on, open the Chef 360 Platform Admin Console and re-configure your Chef 360 Platform deployment. From there, you can disable or deactivate the specific add-on you no longer want to use (this will remove it from the cluster).
